India Crumble in U-19 Asia Cup Final, Pakistan Crowned Champions
Pakistan secured a one-sided victory over arch-rivals India in the final of the Under-19 Asia Cup held in Dubai. On Sunday, Pakistan defeated India by a massive margin of 191 runs to clinch their second U-19 Asia Cup title. This also marked Pakistan’s first title as sole winners in the tournament’s history.
India won the toss and chose to field first, a decision that proved costly and changed the course of the match. Batting first, Pakistan piled up a huge total of 347 for 8. Opener Sameer Minhas produced a sensational innings, scoring 172 runs off 113 balls, including 17 fours and nine sixes. On the batting-friendly ICC Academy pitch, the Indian bowlers looked completely helpless.
Chasing the daunting target, India needed something special, but their batting line-up collapsed quickly. Although Vaibhav Suryavanshi provided an explosive start, captain Ayush Mhatre was dismissed early. Later, Ali Raza turned the match firmly in Pakistan’s favour by picking up four wickets, including the crucial wicket of Suryavanshi. India continued to lose wickets at regular intervals and struggled to score runs, eventually being bowled out for just 156 in 26.2 overs.
Sameer Minhas was named both Player of the Match and Player of the Series for his 71-ball century in the final and for finishing the tournament as the highest run-scorer. Riding on his brilliance, Pakistan reasserted their dominance in the Under-19 Asia Cup.
