Bangladesh was bowled out for 146 in their second innings, leaving India with a modest target of 95 runs. India comfortably reached this target in just 20 overs. Many had anticipated that the second Test would end in a draw due to rain on the first three days, but Bangladesh suffered a disappointing defeat once again. From Chennai to Kanpur, Najmul Hossain Shanto's team failed to find their footing.

After being humiliated by Pakistan, Bangladesh faced the embarrassment of a whitewash against India. In this tour, they have experienced consecutive humiliating losses, including a 280-run defeat in the Chennai Test and an 8-wicket loss at Kanpur's Green Park Stadium.

On the morning of the fifth day, Bangladesh's second innings collapsed, giving India an easy target of just 95 runs. The breakthrough came in the third over when Rohit Sharma, who scored 8 runs, was caught by Hasan Mahmud off Mehedi Hasan Miraz's bowling. Rohit had to return to the pavilion after losing his wicket to Miraz in both innings.

Miraz's second victim was Shubman Gill, who was given out lbw after a review failed to save him; he scored only 6 runs. India lost their second wicket at 34 runs. However, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal continued to play aggressively, supported by Virat Kohli, who appeared comfortable at the crease.

At the end of the fourth day, Bangladesh was at 2 wickets for 26 runs. The Indian bowlers took all 8 remaining Bangladeshi wickets during the morning session of the fifth day. Bangladesh lost wickets at regular intervals, with only Sadman Islam's fifty and Mushfiqur Rahim's 37-run innings offering any resistance. The team capitulated under the pressure of India's spin duo, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, in the second innings.
