Finally, the verdict is in: Shakib Al Hasan's bowling action is now deemed legal. The Bangladesh all-rounder has successfully passed the bowling action test in England, clearing him to bowl in any format of cricket. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed this in an official press release.
In their statement, BCB said, "The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has received information regarding the re-evaluation of Shakib Al Hasan's bowling action on March 9 at Loughborough University, United Kingdom. Shakib has successfully corrected his action. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has lifted the ban on his bowling in all competitive county cricket and The Hundred league. The ECB will release a detailed announcement about the lifting of the ban soon."
Shakib underwent the bowling action test on March 9 at Loughborough University's medical department, and the results were confirmed by the ECB yesterday. With this successful test, Bangladesh's greatest all-rounder is now free to bowl once again, with no restrictions in place.
It is important to note that doubts about Shakib's bowling action first arose in September after he played a match for Surrey in the County Championship. This marked the first time in his long career, which began in 2006, that questions were raised about his bowling action.
Shakib's most recent international appearance was in the Test series against India, though his last One-Day International (ODI) appearance was during the 2023 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup.
