Bangladesh's Sharmin Akter Supta has been nominated for the ICC Women's Player of the Month award for November, following her brilliant performance in the ODI series against Ireland. Playing at home, Sharmin dazzled with the bat, earning a well-deserved spot among the top nominees, alongside South Africa's Nadine de Klerk and England's Danni Wyatt-Hodge.
The ICC released the shortlist for the November cricket awards on Thursday. Sharmin Akter, who had been away from international cricket for a long period, chose the Ireland series as her comeback platform. After nearly a year and a half away from the game, Sharmin returned with a bang, showcasing excellent form in the three-match ODI series against Ireland.
In the first match, she played a career-best knock of 96 runs off 89 balls. In the second match, she contributed 43 runs off 63 balls, and in the third match, she scored 72 runs. This remarkable performance has earned her the nomination for the prestigious ICC Player of the Month award.
Sharmin will become only the second female cricketer from Bangladesh to achieve this milestone. The first was Nahida Akter, who had previously earned the honor.
Other players nominated for the Women's Player of the Month award include England's Danni Wyatt-Hodge, who scored 142 runs at an average of 71 in three T20s against South Africa, and South Africa's Nadine de Klerk, who contributed with both bat and ball, scoring 80 runs and taking 4 wickets in the same series.
