Gulshan Club Stuns Mohammedan with a 107-Run Victory in DPL Opener

In the opening match of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) 2025, Gulshan Cricket Club delivered an impressive performance to defeat Mohammedan Sporting Club by 107 runs. This victory was particularly significant for Gulshan, as it was their first-ever appearance in the tournament. Despite the failure of senior players like Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Mahmudullah Riyad, Iftekhar Hossain Ifti emerged as the star performer for Gulshan Club.

Iftekhar Hossain Ifti was the standout player with his all-round performance, leading Gulshan to a commanding win. First, he scored a brilliant century, amassing 108 runs off 110 balls, including 9 fours and 3 sixes. Alongside him, Jawad Abrar contributed 75 runs off 86 balls, and Habibur Sheikh Munna added 47 runs off 53 balls, helping Gulshan to post a total of 298 runs.

Chasing down the target of 299, Mohammedan Sporting Club struggled throughout the innings. Their star players, including Tamim Iqbal (22 off 22 balls), Mushfiqur Rahim (7 runs), and Mahmudullah Riyad (10 runs), failed to make significant contributions. The only bright spot was Ariful Islam, who scored a half-century (73 runs).

Mohammedan's batting collapsed at 191 runs, and they were all out in just 40.2 overs, falling short by 107 runs.
