Eleven Bangladesh Players Enter BBL Draft, Eye Maiden Appearance in Australia's Premier T20 League

Bangladeshi cricketers are eyeing a breakthrough in Australia's premier T20 tournament, the Big Bash League (BBL), with 11 players registering for the upcoming foreign players draft — a potential milestone as none of them have featured in the league before.

The draft, set to take place this Thursday in Melbourne, will see franchises select international players for both the men's and women's categories. On Tuesday, BBL organizers unveiled the full list of foreign entrants, with 440 male players making the cut — including some familiar and emerging names from Bangladesh.

While Bangladesh legend Shakib Al Hasan remains the only player from the country to have played in the BBL, others have come close. Last season, young leg-spinner Rishad Hossain was picked by the Hobart Hurricanes, but couldn't participate due to a lack of NOC from the Bangladesh Cricket Board.

The BBL mandates that each team must pick at least two foreign players from the draft and may sign up to four. Additionally, each franchise has already pre-signed one overseas player ahead of the draft.

For these 11 players, participation in the BBL would not only bring invaluable T20 franchise experience but also open up greater exposure on the global cricket stage.
