Lunch Break - Bangladesh trail by 314 runs
On the third morning in Rawalpindi, Bangladesh’s overly defensive approach is causing them harm. In the first 30-over session, Bangladesh lost two wickets. Zakir Hasan was dismissed for a catch off an unnecessary shot, and captain Shanto also had to depart quickly. Before the lunch break, the scoreboard read 130/2, with Sadman Islam and Mominul Haque at the crease. Bangladesh is still trailing by 314 runs from Pakistan's first innings total.
Opening batsman Sadman, who last played a Test match in March 2022 against South Africa in Durban, marked his return with a fifty in the first innings. Just before the lunch break, Sadman reached his third career half-century. In his innings of 123 balls, he hit 6 boundaries. Mominul Haque, who provided excellent support to Sadman, is also close to a fifty, scoring 45 off 66 balls. The partnership between them has so far added 81 runs. Pakistan is waiting patiently for a mistake from the batsmen.
Yesterday, Naimul Hossain Shanto's team had a day to forget. On the second day of the Test, Pakistan declared their innings at 448 for 6. Starting the third day, Bangladesh was 421 runs behind in the first innings with openers Sadman Islam and Zakir Hasan.
At the end of the previous day, Zakir Hasan, who scored 11 runs, managed only 1 more run before losing his wicket today. He was caught off a delivery from Naseem Shah, with Mohammad Rizwan leaping superbly to take the catch. This ended the 31-run opening partnership.
With Zakir returning to the pavilion early in the morning, Shanto scored 16 runs off 42 balls before being bowled by Khurram Shahzad off a delivery outside the off-stump. Subsequently, Sadman Islam was joined by the experienced Mominul Haque. The first session's remaining part concluded safely with their solid partnership.
