David Boon Honored by BCB as He Retires from Match Refereeing After 14-Year Career
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) presented a special memento to David Boon in recognition of his remarkable 14-year career as an ICC match referee. The gesture came during the final Test of the recently concluded Bangladesh-Zimbabwe series in Chattogram — Boon’s 87th and final Test as a match official.
The former Australian cricketer and World Cup winner bid farewell to his officiating career with the Chattogram Test, marking the end of a distinguished journey that began in 2011. The BCB expressed its gratitude and respect to Boon for his contributions to the game during a brief ceremony following the match.
Over the course of his career as a match referee, Boon oversaw 87 Tests, 183 One Day Internationals, and 119 T20 Internationals. Before taking up officiating, he had an illustrious playing career for Australia, representing his country in 107 Tests and 181 ODIs.
Boon was also a key member of Australia's 1987 World Cup-winning team, earning the Player of the Match award in the final.
As he steps away from his role as match referee, cricketing authorities and fans alike pay tribute to David Boon's enduring legacy — both as a world-class player and as a respected match official.
