Claims of Investigation Against BCB President Baseless, Board Takes Legal Action Over Misinformation

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has described as baseless and deliberate the allegations circulating on social media regarding its President, Mohammad Aminul Islam. According to the Board, claims that the President is facing any form of investigation are completely false and fabricated.

In a media release issued on Friday (30 January), the BCB stated that the allegations, which misuse the name of Alex Marshall, the Independent Chair of the BCB’s Integrity Unit, have no factual basis. Alex Marshall has personally confirmed in writing to the Board that he is not conducting any such inquiry. He stated that claims suggesting the BCB President is under investigation by him are entirely untrue and imaginary.

The BCB expressed serious concern over the spread of such misleading information on social media. The Board believes this is a calculated attempt to damage the personal reputation of the BCB President and undermine the image of Bangladesh’s cricket administration.

In response, the BCB has taken legal action. A General Diary (GD) has been filed at Mirpur Police Station against the social media pages and individuals involved in spreading the false information. The GD, numbered 3867, was filed on 30 January 2026 under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

The Board further stated that it maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward defamation. Strict action will be taken against any individuals or platforms involved in malicious campaigns targeting the BCB, its officials, or its players.

Meanwhile, the BCB has urged the public and the media to refrain from sharing or amplifying unverified information and to rely solely on official sources for accurate and authentic updates.
