BCB moves toward election after dissolving regional committees
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has taken several key decisions as part of its administrative restructuring and preparations for the upcoming election. These decisions were made at the third meeting of the BCB Ad-hoc Committee held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, signaling a new direction in the governance of the country’s cricket.
At the meeting, the Board first decided to dissolve the existing ad-hoc committees of three regional cricket associations. Confirming the dissolution of the committees in Chattogram, Sylhet, and Barisal, the BCB stated that the Board has decided to immediately dissolve the previously constituted ad-hoc committees of the Regional Cricket Associations of Chattogram, Sylhet, and Barisal.
The meeting also approved the initiation of the process for the next BCB election. Informing that the process will begin through the nomination of councillors, the Board stated that it has decided to initiate the process for the next BCB election. As a first step, a notice will be issued shortly inviting the nomination of councillors from all categories in accordance with Article 12.7 of the BCB Constitution.
To ensure a fair and structured election, the BCB also approved the formation of an Election Commission. Explaining the structure and composition of the commission, the Board stated that it has approved the formation of a three-member Election Commission to conduct the next BCB election. The commission will include one representative from the Ministry of Youth and Sports or the National Sports Council, along with two members nominated by the BCB.
In addition, the Board approved a key commercial partnership. Highlighting the approval of Coca-Cola Bangladesh as the official beverage partner, it stated that the Board has approved Coca-Cola Bangladesh as the official drinking water and beverage partner of the BCB for a period of two years.
