BCB announces Bangladesh squad for U-19 Asia Cup
The Under-19 Asia Cup is set to kick off on 12 December in the United Arab Emirates. Eight teams will compete in the tournament, with the final scheduled for 21 December. Bangladesh Under-19 team will enter the competition aiming to defend their title in this year’s Youth Asia Cup.
On Monday (8 December), the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a 15-member squad for the tournament, featuring a few surprises. Azizul Hakim Tamim has been named captain, while five additional players have been included in the standby list.
Pacer Al Fahad has missed out on selection due to injury. Meanwhile, Debashis Sarkar Deba, who featured in the recent Pakistan series, has been dropped. Off-spinner Sheikh Parvez Jibon has been picked in his place for the Asia Cup squad.
Bangladesh has been placed in Group ‘B’ alongside Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Nepal. Tamim and his team will begin their title defense on 13 December against Afghanistan. They will then face Nepal on 15 December and Sri Lanka on 17 December.
