Bangladesh fell short once again in Chattogram, losing the second T20I to West Indies by 14 runs — a defeat that confirmed the series win for the visitors.

After winning the toss, West Indies opted to bat first but suffered an early blow as Brandon King was dismissed by Taskin Ahmed with just one run on the board. However, Alick Athanaze and Shai Hope counterattacked brilliantly, adding a quickfire 50 runs during the powerplay.

The pair continued to dominate until Nasum Ahmed provided the breakthrough, dismissing Athanaze for 52 to end a 105-run stand off 59 balls. On the very next delivery, Sherfane Rutherford fell for a golden duck. Although Nasum missed out on a hat-trick, Bangladesh managed to slow down the scoring as wickets fell in regular intervals.

Captain Shai Hope contributed a solid 55 before being dismissed, while late spells from Rishad Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman helped Bangladesh pull things back. West Indies eventually posted 149/9 in their 20 overs.

Chasing 150, Bangladesh’s innings got off to a shaky start. Despite being dropped once, Saif Hassan could score only 5 off 11 balls. Liton Das and Tanzid Tamim tried to rebuild, but the powerplay yielded just 37 runs. Liton was bowled by Akeal Hosein for 23, while Towhid Hridoy, despite a reprieve, managed just 12.

Tanzid Tamim fought hard with a composed 61 off 48 balls, but once he fell to Romario Shepherd, Bangladesh’s hopes began to fade. Jaker Ali was caught for 17, and Shamim Patwari was bowled by Jason Holder for just 1 in the 18th over.

Needing 21 runs off the final over, Bangladesh could manage only six, losing two more wickets in the process. They ended their innings at 135/8, handing West Indies a 14-run victory and the series win.
