"We didn't bat well; although we started off well, we lost several wickets in the middle. I believe if we could have scored 20 more runs, it would have been better," said Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto after the loss to the United States of America (USA).
Shanto didn't just blame the batters; he also criticized the pacers. He said, "Our spinners did quite well. However, in the last 2-3 overs, our seamers couldn't execute their plans. Hopefully, they will make a comeback in the next match."
Despite putting up 34 runs in the first 4 overs with the opening partnership, Bangladesh only managed to score 153 runs in 20 overs. The United States made it clear that this total was insufficient.
They secured victory with 3 balls and 5 wickets in hand. The United States was at 94 runs with 5 wickets down in 14.5 overs, needing 60 runs from 31 balls. Corey Anderson, with an unbeaten 34 off 25 balls, and Harmeet Singh, with an unbeaten 33 off 13 balls, completed the task in just 28 balls.
