Bangladesh Women Suffer Heavy 10-Wicket Defeat Against Australia
In Visakhapatnam today, the Australian women’s cricket team once again showcased their dominance at the Women’s Cricket World Cup, defeating Bangladesh by a massive 10 wickets. The reigning champions maintained their flawless form against the Tigers.
Batting first, Bangladesh posted 198 runs for 9 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Sobhana Mostari led the innings with an unbeaten 66 off 80 balls, including 9 boundaries. Opener Rubeya Haider contributed a crucial 44 runs to stabilize the innings.
Australia’s spinners — Alana King, Georgia Wareham, and Ashleigh Gardner — put Bangladesh under pressure, taking two wickets each. Pacer Annabel Sutherland claimed 2 wickets, while Megan Schutt picked up 1.
However, the Bangladeshi total proved no challenge for the Australian openers. Alyssa Healy played a devastating knock of 114 off 77 balls, smashing 20 fours, while Phoebe Litchfield remained unbeaten on 84 off 72 balls.
The duo’s destructive partnership carried Australia to 202 runs in just 24.5 overs without losing a wicket, sealing a commanding 10-wicket victory.
The win further cemented Australia’s position at the top of the points table, while Bangladesh suffered their fourth consecutive loss after starting the tournament on a positive note with a win over Pakistan in their opening match.
