Heavy rainfall occurred in the vicinity of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur last night. Bangladesh Women's team won the toss and opted to bat. Captain Nigar Sultana Joti's decision to bat first surprised everyone.
Fargana Haque Pinky and Sobhana Mostary struggled to score runs. Despite playing 8.3 overs, they managed to score only 17 runs as a partnership. Sobhana Mostary got out after scoring 3 runs off 20 balls bowled by Megan Schutt.
Fargana couldn't make double figures despite playing in a test mood. She scored only 7 runs off 52 balls before becoming the victim of Sophie Molineux. Another batter, Murshida Khatun, got out scoring 5 runs off 24 balls bowled by Ashleigh Gardner.
When the team's total reached just 27 runs in 17.4 overs, the fourth batter Nigar Sultana Joti got out after scoring 1 run off 5 balls.
From there, Fahima Khatun and Ritu Moni added 25 runs together before both were dismissed within 5 balls. Ritu Moni scored 10 runs off 24 balls, while Fahima scored 11 runs off 19 balls.
Sorna Aktar (2 runs off 19 balls) and Rabeya Khan (3 runs off 17 balls) couldn't contribute significantly to the scoreboard. However, Nahida Akter took the responsibility to increase the runs. She scored 16 runs off 23 balls, and Marufa Aktar added another 20 runs. However, Bangladesh couldn't reach the 100-run mark. They collapsed at 97 runs in 44.1 overs.
Nahida Akter was the highest scorer for the team with 22 runs. Marufa Akter remained unbeaten with 8 runs off 15 balls.
For the Australian Women's team, Sophie Molineux took 3 wickets, while Ashleigh Gardner, Alana King, and Georgia Wareham took 2 wickets each. Megan Schutt also claimed 2 wickets.
