Bangladesh Women delivered a commanding all-round performance in Kirtipur, Nepal, crushing Scotland to register a record-margin victory. In the match, Bangladesh posted the second-highest team total in their T20I history, underlining their dominance with both bat and ball under the leadership of Nigar Sultana Joty.

With this win on Friday (30 January), Bangladesh Women extended their unbeaten run to six consecutive matches in the ongoing qualifiers. Playing at the Tribhuvan Cricket Ground, they defeated Scotland by a massive 90-run margin.

After winning the toss, Bangladesh opted to bat first. Openers Dilara Akter and Juwairia Ferdous provided an aggressive start, putting the team on the front foot early. Dilara scored 39 off 28 balls while Juwairia added 22, with their 67-run opening partnership laying a solid foundation.

Although Bangladesh lost a few quick wickets in the middle overs, captain Nigar Sultana Joty and Sobhana Mostary steadied the innings and rebuilt strongly. The pair added a 100-run partnership for the fourth wicket, pushing the total into a commanding position. Joty struck 56 off 35 balls, including five fours and three sixes, while Sobhana scored 47 off 23 balls with seven fours and two sixes. Bangladesh finished on 191 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs.

Scotland’s chase fell apart almost immediately, losing a wicket off the very first ball. They continued to lose wickets at regular intervals against Bangladesh’s disciplined bowling attack. Marufa Akter was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Swarna Akter claimed two.

For Scotland, Pippa Sproul top-scored with 27 runs, while Megan McColl contributed 20. The Scottish side was eventually bowled out for 101 in 20 overs.

As a result, Bangladesh secured victory with 90 runs to spare, sealing another emphatic win in the tournament.
