Bangladesh whitewashed by Aussie women's at home

Never before have Bangladesh and Australia faced each other in a bilateral series. In this first-ever One Day International series, Bangladeshi women's team found themselves drowning in the embarrassment of a whitewash by the dominant Australian women. They faced a massive defeat by 118 runs in the first match. In the second ODI, they secured a victory by six wickets, ensuring the series for them. Today, with a comprehensive victory by 8 wickets, Alyssa Healy and Perry sealed the whitewash against the Tigresses.

Once again, Bangladesh faced an all-out before reaching a hundred runs on the scoreboard. They couldn't even play more than 26.2 overs, managing only 89 runs. Seven batters were out within one-digit scores. Their chase ended with just 18.3 overs, losing 2 wickets, as they were welcomed at the harbor of victory by the Australian women.

In the three-match ODI series against Australia, Bangladesh lost the toss and opted to bat first. Like the first two matches, today's innings also witnessed a disastrous batting collapse by the Tigresses. In the first ODI at Mirpur, they scored 95 runs, followed by 97 in the next match, and today, they stumbled at 89. Only four batters managed to touch double digits among the eleven players. Captain Nigar Sultana top-scored with 16 runs from her bat.

Before any runs were scored, opener Sumaiya Akter lost her wicket in the second over of the innings to Ellyse Perry. In the following over, another opener, Farzana Haque, departed after scoring just 5 runs. Their second wicket fell as Murshida Khatun Peri scored 8 runs before being caught by Alyssa Healy's gloves.

In the 11th over, Kim Garth took a pair of wickets. Ritu Moni lost her wicket after scoring 1 run off 9 balls, and Fahima Khatun returned without scoring after facing just 2 balls. With five wickets down for just 32 runs, the Tigresses welcomed a significant collapse. Then, captain Nigar Sultana's departure added to the team's misery as she scored 16 runs from 39 balls, the highest for the team.

Afterwards, Bangladesh's collapse was just a matter of time. In consecutive overs, Bangladesh lost three more wickets. At the end, Marufa Akhter remained unbeaten on 15 runs as Bangladesh concluded their innings at 89 runs, still undefeated.

The T20 series between Bangladesh and Australia will consist of three matches. These matches will be played in Mirpur on March 31, April 2, and April 4.
