Bangladesh Under-19 team continued their winning run in the ongoing tri-nation series in Zimbabwe, climbing to the top of the points table with a dominant 91-run victory over the hosts in Harare. After edging past South Africa by just one wicket in their opening match, captain Azizul Hakim Tamim's side produced an all-round performance to comfortably dispatch Zimbabwe in their second game.
Batting first after losing the toss, Bangladesh posted a challenging total of 274 for 8. In-form opener Jawad Abrar once again led from the front with a blistering 82 off 63 balls, including 12 boundaries and a six. Despite missing out on a century yet again — his fourth fifty in his last five innings — Jawad’s explosive knock gave the Tigers a strong platform.
Skipper Azizul Hakim Tamim contributed a handy 34 runs and later made a strong impact with the ball, claiming two wickets to earn the Player of the Match award for his all-round effort.
Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Abdullah played a crucial late-innings role, staying unbeaten on 56, while Debasish Deba added a valuable 24 runs toward the end to push the total well past the 270 mark.
Chasing 275, Zimbabwe struggled to build momentum and were eventually bowled out for 183 in 42.2 overs. Seamer Samiun Basir delivered a standout bowling performance, taking 3 wickets for just 14 runs in his 8.2 overs. Al Fahad and Tamim also chipped in with two wickets each, ensuring a comfortable victory for Bangladesh.
With this convincing win, the Junior Tigers now sit at the top of the tri-series points table, showcasing depth and balance in both batting and bowling. Jawad Abrar’s consistency and Tamim’s leadership continue to shine as the team eyes a place in the final.
