Bangladesh Struggles in Second Innings
Despite being 202 runs behind, Bangladesh faced another nightmare start to their innings. Opener Shadman Islam managed only 1 run, while Mominul Haque, coming in at number three, was dismissed for a duck. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto also couldn't capitalize on his innings, leaving Bangladesh reeling. However, Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Mushfiqur Rahim helped push the score past 100.
Due to poor lighting conditions, play was called off early again, with Bangladesh finishing the day at 101 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 27.1 overs. They are still trailing by 101 runs, with 7 wickets remaining.
After South Africa's dominance in the morning session, Bangladesh showed some fight in the latter part of the day. The only wicket that fell in the last session was that of captain Najmul Hossain Shanto.
Bangladesh began their second innings shaky, suffering two quick blows from Kagiso Rabada. After dismissing Shadman, Rabada sent Mominul back to the pavilion as well. Both failed to cope with Rabada's pace, with Shadman scoring just 1 run off 7 balls and Mominul returning without scoring. This marked a dismal performance for the most experienced batter in the team, with scores of 4 and 0 in consecutive innings.
After losing 2 wickets for just 4 runs, the team found some stability through captain Shanto and opener Joy. However, even as Shanto steadied the innings, he couldn't extend it, falling lbw to Keshav Maharaj for 23 runs. Despite the collapse, Bangladesh managed to surpass 100 runs thanks to Joy and Mushfiq's efforts.
In the first innings, Bangladesh was bowled out for 106 runs, while South Africa scored 308. This left Bangladesh with a daunting task in their second innings, as they began their chase 202 runs behind. Kyle Verreynne's century helped set a challenging target, putting Bangladesh in another precarious position.
