Bangladesh managed 248 all out in 45.5 overs in their must-win second ODI against Sri Lanka at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. After being put in to bat, the visitors owed their fighting total to fifties from Parvez Hossain Emon and Towhid Hridoy, along with a spirited late cameo by Tanzim Hasan Sakib.
Sakib smashed 33* off just 21 balls, hitting two sixes and two fours, adding a crucial 30 runs for the last wicket with Mustafizur Rahman—who faced 7 balls without scoring.
Bangladesh’s innings wobbled after losing opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim for 7 early. Parvez Emon (67) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (14) steadied things with a 63-run stand before wickets fell at regular intervals. Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz again fell cheaply.
Hridoy anchored the innings with a patient fifty (50 off 68 balls) but was run out immediately after reaching the milestone following a mix-up with Sakib. No other partnership proved big enough to dominate the disciplined Sri Lankan bowling.
For Sri Lanka, Asitha Fernando starred with 4 for 35 while Wanindu Hasaranga picked up 3 wickets.
Bangladesh must win to level the three-match series, having lost the first ODI by 77 runs.
