Bangladesh HP Team Overwhelmed by Pakistan Shaheens in Australia

The Bangladesh High Performance (HP) team is on a tour of Australia to play a series in three formats. However, they faced a defeat in the opening match. In the four-day match held from July 19-22 in Darwin, Shahadat Hossain Dipu's team suffered a 148-run defeat against Pakistan Shaheens.

Winning the toss, Bangladesh HP team opted to field first at the Marrara Oval in Darwin. Pakistani opener Muhammad Huraira played an impeccable innings, scoring 218 runs off 247 balls. Another opener, captain Sahibzada Farhan, scored 66 runs. At number three, Umar Amin scored 54 runs, while Kamran Ghulam remained unbeaten with exactly 100 runs.

Pakistan Shaheens declared their first innings at 467 for 3 wickets. Ripon Mondal took 2 wickets, and Hasan Murad took 1 wicket for Bangladesh HP.

In response, Bangladesh HP was bowled out for just 266 runs in their first innings. Opener Sadman Islam scored the highest with 88 runs, while Aich Molla, batting at number four, scored 70 runs. Captain Shahadat Hossain Dipu remained unbeaten on 36, but lacked support from the other end. For Pakistan Shaheens, Khurram Shehzad took 6 wickets, Mohammad Ali took 2, and Shahnawaz Dahani took 1.

With a 201-run lead, Pakistan Shaheens didn't have a great start in their second innings. Hasibullah Khan got out for a duck, and Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed for 8 runs. However, Umar Yusuf's unbeaten century (100*) and Mubashir Khan's 95 runs helped Pakistan Shaheens declare their innings at 226 for 3 wickets in 47.2 overs. Ripon Mondal, Rezaur Rahman Raja, and Mukidul Islam Mugdha each took one wicket.

Chasing a target of 428 runs, Bangladesh HP team could only manage 279 runs in 86.2 overs in their second innings. Opener Parvez Hossain Emon scored 57 runs, Amit Hasan made 71 runs, captain Dipu scored 42, and Ripon Mondal remained unbeaten on 43*. However, the team was bowled out for 279 runs, resulting in a 148-run defeat.

In the second innings, Mehran Mumtaz took 4 wickets and Shahnawaz Dahani took 3 wickets to secure the victory for Pakistan Shaheens.

The Bangladesh HP team will face Pakistan Shaheens again in the second four-day match on July 26, starting at 7 AM Bangladesh time in Darwin.
