Bangladesh HP Team Falls to Adelaide Strikers Academy in Top End T20 Series

After a promising start in the Top End T20 Series in Australia, the Bangladesh HP (High Performance) team has suffered two consecutive defeats. Following a victory against Melbourne Renegades Academy, they lost to both Tasmania Tigers and Adelaide Strikers Academy.

On August 14, at the DXC Arena in Darwin, the Bangladesh HP team faced a heavy defeat against Adelaide Strikers Academy, losing by 8 wickets. After losing the toss, Bangladesh HP batted first, scoring 147 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Adelaide Strikers Academy chased down the target with 14 balls to spare and 8 wickets in hand.

Jishan Alam scored 26 runs from 21 balls, hitting one four and one six, while his opening partner Tanzid Hasan Tamim managed just 1 run off 5 balls. Top scorer from the previous two matches, Parvez Hossain Emon, failed to reach double digits, scoring only 8 runs. Afif Hossain Dhrubo continued his poor form, scoring just 2 runs off 6 balls.

Captain Akbar Ali, who came in at number five, and Shamim Hossain Patwari, who batted at six, were the main contributors to Bangladesh HP's total. Akbar Ali scored 36 runs off 35 balls, hitting one four and two sixes. Shamim Hossain was the top scorer for the team with 42 runs from 32 balls, including three fours and one six. Mahfuzur Rahman Rabbi added a quick cameo of 16 runs from 7 balls at the end.

For Adelaide Strikers Academy, Tim Oakley and Harry Manenti took 3 wickets each, while Liam Scott and Noah McFadyen picked up 1 wicket each.

In response, despite losing opener Josh Kann for a duck, fellow opener Jake Winter anchored the chase for Adelaide Strikers Academy. Winter remained unbeaten with a solid 82 runs off 54 balls, including 10 fours and 3 sixes. He was well supported by Noah McFadyen (38 runs off 32 balls) and Hamish Chase (23* runs off 19 balls).

Adelaide Strikers Academy reached the target in 17.4 overs with 8 wickets to spare. For Bangladesh HP, Ripon Mondol and Abu Hider Rony took 1 wicket each.

Bangladesh HP will play their final three matches in the Top End T20 Series on August 15, 16, and 17 against Australian Capital Territory, Pakistan Shaheens, and Perth Scorchers Academy, respectively.
