Bangladesh HP Regains Victory in Australia After Two Losses
The Bangladesh High-Performance (HP) team has so far played four matches in the Top End T20 Series, a 9-team tournament in Australia. After winning their first match, they suffered back-to-back losses but today, Akbar Ali's team tasted victory again. They defeated the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Comets by a significant margin of 6 wickets.
The match took place at the TIO Stadium in Darwin, the capital of Australia's Northern Territory. ACT Comets won the toss and chose to bat first.
Despite batting the full 20 overs, ACT Comets managed to score only 124 runs for the loss of 9 wickets, under the pressure of Ripon Mondol and Abu Hider Rony's bowling attack.
Opener Mikey McNamara was the top scorer for the ACT Comets with 36 runs off 26 balls, while Scott Murn could only reach 20. Ripon Mondol was the standout bowler for Bangladesh HP, taking 3 wickets for 26 runs. Abu Hider Rony also took 2 wickets, conceding 26 runs. Rakibul Hasan and Mahfuzur Rahman Rabbi took one wicket each.
Chasing a small target, Bangladesh HP's opening partnership added 51 runs. The partnership ended when Tanzid Hasan Tamim was dismissed for 18 runs off 15 balls. Like the opening partnership, Jishan Alam also reached a personal fifty.
Jishan scored 50 runs off 36 balls, including 1 four and 2 sixes. Parvez Hossain Emon, who came in at number three, scored 23 runs off 24 balls. Afif Hossain Dhrubo, batting at number four, contributed 17 runs off 18 balls.
Bangladesh HP reached the target in 16.4 overs with 4 wickets down. Akbar Ali remained unbeaten with 5 runs, and Shamim Hossain was not out on 1.
The final two matches of the Top End T20 Series for Bangladesh HP will be held on August 16 and 17, where they will face Pakistan Shaheens and Perth Scorchers Academy, respectively.
