Bangladesh HP Fails to Overcome Tasmania Tigers
The Bangladesh High-Performance (HP) team started the Top End T20 series with a victory against the Melbourne Renegades Academy. However, they tasted defeat in their second match, losing to the Tasmania Tigers by 5 wickets.
The match took place at the TIO Stadium in Darwin, the capital of the Northern Territory, Australia. Tasmania Tigers won the toss and opted to bowl first, sending Bangladesh HP to bat.
Bangladesh HP had a strong start with the bat, with openers Jishan Alam and Tanzid Hasan Tamim putting up a 73-run partnership in just 8.3 overs. However, both were dismissed in consecutive deliveries in the 9th over. Tanzid scored 28 runs off 29 balls before being run out, while Jishan hit 38 runs off 23 balls, including 2 fours and 3 sixes.
Afif Hossain Dhrubo, who came in at number four, managed only 10 runs from 6 balls. After losing 3 wickets for 88 runs, Parvez Hossain Emon and captain Akbar Ali formed a 37-run partnership. Akbar Ali was dismissed after scoring 20 runs off 17 balls.
Parvez Hossain Emon, who was the top scorer in the previous match, once again led the scoring for Bangladesh HP, remaining unbeaten with 39 runs off 29 balls, including 2 fours and 2 sixes. Shamim Hossain added 13 runs from 12 balls, and Abu Hider Rony contributed 6* runs off 4 balls. Bangladesh HP finished their innings at 166/5 in 20 overs.
For Tasmania Tigers, Gabe Bell took 2 wickets, while Kieran Elliott and Nivethan Radhakrishnan claimed 1 wicket each.
In response, Tasmania Tigers started slowly. Nick Davis scored 30 runs off 23 balls, but Tim Ward (6 runs off 7 balls), Nivethan Radhakrishnan (5 runs off 8 balls), and Charlie Wakim (25 runs off 26 balls) struggled to make an impact.
However, Jake Doran, who came in at number five, played a remarkable innings, leading Tasmania to victory. He remained unbeaten with 71 runs off 37 balls, including 4 fours and 3 sixes. Raphael McMillan contributed a quick 17* runs off 9 balls, helping the team reach their target with 3 balls and 5 wickets to spare.
Rakibul Hasan took 2 wickets for Bangladesh HP, while Sheikh Parvez Jibon, Abu Hider Rony, and Mahfuzur Rahman Rabbi took 1 wicket each.
Bangladesh HP's next match in the Top End T20 series is scheduled for August 14th against Adelaide Strikers Academy, starting at 9:30 AM Bangladesh time.
