In the first semi-final of the Women's Asia Cup, Bangladesh faced India. Playing at the Dambulla International Stadium in Sri Lanka, the Bangladesh women's team could only muster 80 runs for 8 wickets after opting to bat first.
In the battle for a spot in the final, Bangladesh Women faced a batting collapse against a strong Indian side. Winning the toss, Nigar Sultana Jyoti's team chose to bat first.
Opener Dilara Akter was dismissed early, scoring just 6 runs with the team's total at 7. Ishma Tanzim, batting at number three, made 8 runs off 10 balls, including 2 fours. Another opener, Murshida Khatun, scored 4 runs off 9 balls, leaving Bangladesh at 21 for 3.
Although the Tigresses didn't lose any more wickets during the power play, they couldn't accelerate the run rate. Captain Nigar Sultana, who has been in good form, tried to anchor one end with slow batting, but the other end saw a procession of wickets.
Rumana Ahmed was dismissed for just 1 run off 11 balls, caught off Radha Yadav. Rabea Khatun was out for 1 run off 7 balls, caught by Shafali Verma off Pooja Vastrakar. Ritu Moni was out for 5 runs off 6 balls, leaving Bangladesh reeling at 44 for 6.
Nigar Sultana and Swarna Akter tried to form a partnership to rescue the innings, but they couldn't go far. The partnership ended at 36 runs when Nigar was dismissed by Radha Yadav, having scored 32 runs off 51 balls. Swarna Akter remained unbeaten on 19 runs off 18 balls, as Bangladesh ended their innings at 80 for 8.
For India, Renuka Thakur Singh and Radha Yadav took 3 wickets each, while Pooja Vastrakar and Deepti Sharma picked up one wicket apiece.
