Bangladesh Appoints Sarwar Imran as Head Coach for Women's National Cricket Team
Sarwar Imran, a seasoned and experienced coach, is set to take over as the head coach of the Bangladesh women's national cricket team. His first assignment will be the upcoming Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.
Though the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has not yet officially announced the appointment, Sarwar is currently overseeing training sessions at the Home of Cricket, Mirpur.
Sarwar Imran previously served as the coach of the Bangladesh U-19 women's cricket team during the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup. Now, he has been entrusted with the national team’s responsibilities. Following the end of the contract with Sri Lankan coach Hashan Tilakaratne, who led the team earlier, the BCB chose not to renew the contract and appointed Sarwar in his place.
Sarwar Imran, who was Bangladesh’s first-ever Test coach, is regarded as one of the best coaches in the country’s cricketing history. He has an extensive coaching career, beginning with his role as head coach during the 2003 South Africa tour. He was also appointed assistant coach of the national team in 2014.
In addition to his role in international cricket, Sarwar Imran has coached in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and domestic cricket. He also coached the Bangladesh U-19 women’s team. Now, with the responsibility of the senior women's national team, he is focusing on the World Cup Qualifiers and is committed to achieving success in the tournament.
