After a heavy defeat in the first ODI, Bangladesh have called up two spinners, Nasum Ahmed and Sheikh Mehedi Hasan, to join their white-ball squad in Sri Lanka. The pair will link up with the team in Colombo on July 5 before the squad heads to Kandy for the third and final ODI on July 6.
They are also in contention for the T20I series, though Bangladesh Cricket Board has yet to announce its T20 squad. Nasum, a left-arm spinner, offers variation in the attack, while Mehedi is a valuable all-round option.
Bangladesh lost the first ODI by 77 runs in Colombo on Wednesday. Chasing Sri Lanka’s 244, built around Charith Asalanka’s century, Bangladesh crashed from 100 for 1 to 105 for 8 in a shocking collapse, eventually being bowled out for 167.
The second ODI will be played at the same venue on Saturday.
