In the fourth match of Group ‘B’ in the Rising Stars Asia Cup, Bangladesh ‘A’ Women produced a thrilling performance to defeat Sri Lanka ‘A’ Women by 4 runs. The match, held in Bangkok, Thailand, saw the junior Tigers secure victory in 19.5 overs, chasing the target of 115.
Bangladesh ‘A’ Women, having won the toss, came out to bat first but could not utilize the full 20 overs. They managed 115 runs in 19.5 overs. Among the batters, Sharmin Sultana scored a team-high 29 runs, Ishma Tanzim contributed 30 runs, and Shamima Sultana added 17 runs. Rubeya Haider scored 11 runs. No other player managed to reach double figures, and towards the end, Bangladesh’s batting lineup collapsed like a house of cards.
Chasing 116, Sri Lanka ‘A’ Women scored 111 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. Hansima Karunaratne top-scored with 26 runs, while Ema Kanchana added 23 and Sachini Nisansala contributed 20 runs.
Bangladesh ‘A’ Women’s bowling unit also impressed. Sanjida Akter Meghla took 3 wickets for 20 runs in 4 overs, Fahima Khatun claimed 2 wickets for 24 runs in 4 overs, and Sharifa Khatun took 1 wicket for 26 runs in 4 overs. Jannatul Ferdous and Lata Mondal also picked up crucial wickets.
With this win, Bangladesh ‘A’ Women secured two important points in the group stage. Sanjida Akter Meghla was named Player of the Match for her outstanding bowling performance.
