Bangladesh 'A' Clinch Series with Commanding Win Over New Zealand 'A'
Bangladesh 'A' Clinch Series with Commanding Win Over New Zealand 'A'
Nurul Hasan Sohan’s Bangladesh ‘A’ side sealed the series victory with a dominant 87-run win in the second ODI against New Zealand ‘A’, following their earlier 7-wicket triumph in the first match. With this back-to-back win, the hosts secured the three-match series with one game to spare.
New Zealand ‘A’ faltered once again, unable to recover from their opening defeat. Bangladesh ‘A’ maintained their momentum with another commanding performance in the second ODI.
Batting first, the hosts posted a mammoth total of 344 runs, setting the tone for the match. The charge was led by captain Nurul Hasan Sohan, who scored a brilliant 112, and Mahidul Islam Ankon, who added 105 before getting dismissed just two balls before the innings ended. Together, they dismantled the Kiwi bowling attack with clinical precision.
Chasing 345, New Zealand ‘A’ got off to a solid start with a 52-run opening stand. However, Mosaddek Hossain broke the partnership and triggered a collapse. Opener Dale Phillips managed a fighting 79 before falling to Shoriful Islam with the team score on 99. Joe Carter, batting at No. 3, could only manage 13 runs.
Middle-order failures continued with Matt Boyle (1) and captain Nick Kelly (14) falling cheaply—Mosaddek claiming his third wicket by dismissing Kelly. New Zealand lost their 6th wicket at 162 and the 7th at 195, with Mitch Hay briefly resisting with a 38-run innings before being caught off Rejaur Rahman Raja’s delivery.
Ultimately, New Zealand ‘A’ were bowled out for 257, handing Bangladesh ‘A’ a comprehensive victory and an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
