Bangla Tigers Face Back-to-Back Losses in T10 League
Bangla Tigers, led by Shakib Al Hasan, suffered consecutive defeats in the T10 League, with a crushing loss against Deccan Gladiators. In a match dominated by batting failure, Shakib and Rashid Khan's team could only manage a total of 72 runs in their 10 overs. Deccan Gladiators, chasing down the target, comfortably won by 9 wickets with nearly half of the allotted overs to spare.
This marks the second straight loss for Bangla Tigers in the Abu Dhabi T10 League. Out of the 6 matches played so far, the team has only won 2, and they currently sit at 8th place on the points table. Shakib Al Hasan, batting today, faced 22 balls and scored 15 runs, finishing unbeaten in an innings that saw no boundaries hit.
Deccan Gladiators' Dominant Chase:
In response, Deccan Gladiators needed just 73 runs to win, and their captain, Nicholas Pooran, sealed the victory in the 6th over when he hit Shakib for a six off the very first delivery. Deccan reached their target with 29 balls remaining, winning by 9 wickets. Pooran remained unbeaten on 36 runs from 13 balls, hitting 5 sixes. Jos Buttler also contributed with 29 runs from 13 balls.
Bangla Tigers' Batting Collapse:
Earlier, after losing the toss, Bangla Tigers were asked to bat first. They suffered an early setback in the very first over when Hazratullah Zazai was dismissed for 9 runs. Dasun Shanaka, coming in at number 3, could only manage 2 runs. Liam Livingstone also struggled, scoring just 4 runs before being dismissed after hitting a boundary. Richard Gleeson was the key bowler, taking two wickets for just 7 runs.
Mohammad Shahzad, the opener, fell for 8 runs, leaving Bangla Tigers at 23/4 after 4 wickets. A brief partnership between Shakib and Iftikhar Ahmed followed, adding 27 runs. However, Iftikhar was dismissed for 19, and the partnership was broken. Shakib remained unbeaten at the crease, but his slow-paced batting only yielded 15 runs from 22 balls, without a single boundary. Rashid Khan contributed 12 runs from 8 balls, helping the team's total reach 72 runs.
Final Result:
Deccan Gladiators, in the end, cruised to an easy victory with Pooran’s explosive finish, taking the match with 29 balls to spare and 9 wickets in hand.
