Australia Whitewash Bangladesh
After the historic memories of their ODI series success, Bangladesh endured the disappointment of a whitewash in the T20I series. In the third and final T20I at Bir Sreshtho Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium in Chattogram, Australia thrashed the hosts by seven wickets to complete a 3-0 series sweep.
Chasing a modest target of 110, Australian captain Mitchell Marsh came out all guns blazing, taking the attack to the Bangladeshi bowlers from the outset. He smashed a whirlwind 60 off just 28 balls, striking seven fours and four sixes. Opener Josh Inglis contributed 19 runs.
After the dismissals of Marsh and Inglis, Cooper Connolly scored 14 before being dismissed. However, Matt Renshaw (6) and Tim David comfortably finished the chase. David sealed the victory by hitting back-to-back sixes off Rishad Hossain in the final two balls of the 11th over, remaining unbeaten on 12 from just three deliveries. Australia reached 112 and secured victory with 54 balls to spare.
For Bangladesh, leg-spinner Rishad Hossain claimed 2 wickets for 22 runs, while Taskin Ahmed took 1 wicket for 26 runs.
Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first. However, they struggled against Australia’s disciplined bowling attack and managed only 109 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs.
Towhid Hridoy played a fighting knock of 61 from 51 balls for Bangladesh. Rishad Hossain added 16 off 14 deliveries, while Shariful Islam chipped in with 7 runs late in the innings to help the team cross the 100-run mark.
For Australia, pacer Spencer Johnson delivered an outstanding spell, taking 2 wickets for just 6 runs in his four overs. Nathan Ellis and Adam Zampa also picked up two wickets each.
