Australia Announces Squad for T20I Series Against Pakistan

Australia on Thursday announced their playing XI for the first match of the three-match T20I series against Pakistan at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. Opener Travis Head will lead the team in the series opener, taking charge in place of regular captain Mitchell Marsh. Marsh has been rested after playing the entire Big Bash League (BBL) season for the Perth Scorchers.
The match will see international debuts for Mahli Beardman and Jack Edwards, while Matthew Renshaw will make his T20I debut for Australia. The 29-year-old left-handed batter has already represented Australia in 14 Tests and 3 ODIs since his international debut in 2016.
The second and third T20I matches of the series will also be held at the same venue on January 31 and February 1. The toss for each match will take place at 5:30 PM local time, with the first ball scheduled for 6:00 PM.
The series provides crucial preparation for both teams ahead of the T20 World Cup, which will be held in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8. Pakistan is in Group A alongside India, the USA, Netherlands, and Namibia, while Australia is in Group B with Sri Lanka, Ireland, Zimbabwe, and Oman.
This is Australia’s third tour of Pakistan. Australia and Pakistan have faced each other 28 times in T20 internationals, with Australia winning 14, Pakistan 12, one match ending in a tie, and one match producing no result.
