In the first four-day match against Pakistan Shaheens in Australia, the Bangladesh High-Performance (HP) team suffered a 148-run defeat. Today (July 26), Mahmudul Hasan Joy's team took the field for the second four-day match against the same opponents.
Winning the toss, Pakistan Shaheens opted to bowl first at the DXC Arena in Darwin vs Bangladesh HP.
Opener Sadman Islam Anik couldn't do much, scoring just 4 runs before being caught by Omer Yusuf off Kashif Ali's bowling. Fellow opener Parvez Hossain Emon made 30 runs, hitting 75 balls before being caught by Sahibzada Farhan off Khurram Shahzad's bowling.
Although Amite Hasan (7), who batted at number four, and Shahadat Hossain Dipu (1), who batted at number five, were dismissed quickly, captain Mahmudul Hasan Joy, who came in at number three, was leading the charge. Joy built a 54-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Aich Mollah, who batted at number six.
However, neither could stay long after reaching their fifties. Joy scored 69 runs off 90 balls, including 8 fours and 1 six, while Aich Mollah scored 55 runs off 80 balls, with 7 fours.
In the first match, Aich Mollah, Amite Hasan, Parvez Hossain Emon, and Sadman Islam Anik also scored fifties, but none of them reached the three-figure mark. On the other hand, Pakistan Shaheens' batters not only scored centuries but also double centuries.
To win in long-format matches, taking 20 wickets and scoring big runs are crucial. The Bangladeshi batters are repeatedly failing to score big, as if the job ends with a fifty.
