Akbar Ali explains why Sohan and Saklain were sent in the super over
Sohan and Saklain's inclusion in the super over has been a topic of discussion after the Asia Cup final. Akbar Ali, the captain of Bangladesh 'A' team, explained the reasoning behind the decision.
"We are not accustomed to super overs, it rarely happens. Two consecutive matches going to super overs are uncommon. In super overs, you have to play high-risk shots, sometimes they click, sometimes they don't. That's how I see it."
Regarding the batting order in the super over, Akbar Ali said, "Sohan was sent in the super over because he was our best batsman throughout the tournament. And Saklain was in good touch in that match."
The team is clearly disappointed after losing the final. Akbar Ali believes that despite playing well throughout the tournament, a few moments of mistakes turned the match around. "Everyone is a bit disappointed - players, coaching staff... We came back from where we were, and then losing in the super over is disappointing for everyone. We tried our best, but it didn't work out in the end. If we had won the final, I would say we had a perfect tournament."
Meanwhile, Akbar Ali faced harsh criticism for allegedly ball-tampering in the semifinal against India. About the incident, he said, "I don't know what happened in that moment. I don't have any explanation for why I did it. It was a mistake, and even under-12 players wouldn't do that."
