Abahani Limited Dominates Gulshan Cricket Club by 162 Runs with Parvez Emon's Century and Rakibul Hasan's Four-Wicket Haul
Abahani Limited secured a commanding 162-run victory over Gulshan Cricket Club after a brilliant century from Parvez Hossain Iman and a four-wicket haul from Rakibul Hasan. Despite a loss in the opening match, the defending champions bounced back in style in their second match of the season.
In the Dhaka Premier League (DPL), Abahani, the current champions, suffered a 6-wicket defeat to Agrani Bank Cricket Club in their opening match. However, they made an impressive return with a win in their next game, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto.
The match was held at the BKSP Ground No. 4, where Abahani batted first after losing the toss. They posted a formidable total of 323/6 in 50 overs. Opener Parvez Hossain Iman played a brilliant knock of 126 runs, bringing up a well-deserved century. His opening partner, Jishan Alam, contributed 34 runs before getting out. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto failed again, dismissed for just 9 runs off 21 balls, bowled by Azizul Hakim Tamim.
Alongside Iman, Mohammad Mithun also reached a fifty, further consolidating Abahani's total.
In reply, Gulshan Cricket Club was undone by some exceptional bowling. Rakibul Hasan and Mritunjay Chowdhury wreaked havoc on the opposition, leaving them in a precarious position. Gulshan Cricket Club was bowled out for just 161 runs in 29.4 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process.
