Indonesian women's team off-spinner Rohmaliya has set a new record. In women's international T20 cricket, she took 7 wickets without conceding a single run, which is a world record and the best bowling figure in this format. Rohmaliya achieved this feat during the fifth match of the series against Mongolia in Bali, Indonesia. This was her debut match.
Previously, the record was held by Dutch pacer Frederique Overdijk, who in 2021 took 7 wickets against France, conceding only 3 runs. Until now, that was considered the best bowling figure in women's T20 history.
However, 17-year-old Rohmaliya made history yesterday (Wednesday) by taking 7 wickets without giving away any runs. Only two other bowlers have taken 7 wickets in a women's T20 match, including Overdijk and Argentina's Alison Stokes, who also conceded 3 runs. But Rohmaliya now shares the record with a perfect score of not conceding any runs.
Batting first, Indonesia scored 151 runs for the loss of 5 wickets, with opener Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini scoring 61 runs. In response, Mongolia was all out for just 24 runs. Rohmaliya took her first wicket with her first ball and ended the match with 7 wickets, bowling 3.2 overs without conceding any runs, ensuring victory for her team.
