করোনা ভাইরাসের কারণে ভারত জুড়ে ২১ দিনের লকডাউন ঘোষণা করেছেন ভারতীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদি। ভারতের বিভিন্ন মহলের পাবলিক ফিগার এই সময়ে দুস্থদের সাহায্য করতে এগিয়ে আসছেন। ক্রীড়াঙ্গনের মানুষেরাও তার বাইরে নন। ভারতের সর্বকালের সেরা সফল অধিনায়ক মাহেন্দ্র সিং ধোনিও সহযোগিতার হাত বাড়িয়ে দিয়েছেন। তবে ভক্ত সমর্থকদের সমালোচনার তীরে বিদ্ধ হচ্ছেন তিনি।
ওয়েবসাইট কেটোর মাধ্যমে পুনের দাতব্য সংস্থা মুকুল মাধব ফাউন্ডেশনে ১ লাখ ভারতীয় রুপি দান করেন মাহেন্দ্র সিং ধোনি। অনুদানের পরিমাণ ১ লাখ হওয়াতে আপত্তি অনেক সাধারণ মানুষের।
বিসিসিআই সভাপতি সৌরভ গাঙ্গুলি ৫০ লাখ ভারতীয় রুপি সমমূল্যের চাল দিচ্ছেন দুস্থদের মাঝে, শচীন টেন্ডুলকারও তহবিলে দিয়েছেন ৫০ লাখ রুপি। সেখানে প্রায় ৮০০ কোটি রুপির মালিক ধোনির ১ লাখ রুপি অনুদান দেওয়াকে অনেকে দেখছেন খারাপ চোখে।

মাহেন্দ্র সিং ধোনির পক্ষে কথা বলার মানুষও আছে অবশ্য। ভারতের নামজাদা ক্রীড়া সাংবাদিক ভিক্রান্ত গুপ্তা নিজের টুইটারে লেখেন, এনজিওর মাধ্যমে এই ১ লাখ রুপি দিয়েছেন ধোনি। এই এনজিও’র দরকার ছিল সাড়ে ১২ লাখ রুপি যোগাড় করা। আর ধোনির কাছে তারা যা চেয়েছে তাই ই পেয়েছে। এই নিয়ে ধোনিকে সমালোচনার তীরে বিদ্ধ করাকে লজ্জাজনক বলেছেন তিনি।
